Don Bosco booters rule Del Monte Cup

CEBU, Philippines - The Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) Team A booters romped off with the championship trophy in the 10-under division of the 5th Del Monte Football Cup after trouncing Ateneo de Manila in the final over the weekend at the Del Monte Camp Philips field in Bukidnon.

The victory, however, wasn’t served on a silver platter as the Bosconians of coach Glen Ramos had to pass through the wringer before edging out the equally-tough Ateneans, 2-1.

DBTC Team A advanced into the championship after completing a four-game sweep in the elimination round with victories over Viking Football Club, Olles, Celestial Football Club.

The Bosconians were led by MVP awardee Glen Thomas Ramos. He was ably backed up by Joseph Kei Ceniza, Jose Antonio Salazar, John Clyde Vitualla, Agustin Rafael Roa, Erich Rafael Orale, Miguel Mercader and Jon Joseph Rena.

DBTC’s Team B did not go home empty-handed as it settled for third place.

DBTC-B is composed of Mark Oriel Unabia, Miguel Orale, Justin Genson, Joshua Genson, Dennis Cabilin, Fritz Shan Rabaya, Johnreyx Ramirez and Troy Justin Torillo.

“I am very proud of our DBTC U-10 players for winning the 5th Del Monte Cup. The boys played with resounding performances. We ralled aim of getting this year’s title and I am happy that the boys achieved that goal,” said coach Ramos.

To further boost up their skills, the DBTC U-10 players also competed in the Boys 12 category and had a decent third place finish.

Coach Ramos extended his gratitude to the all-out support given to them by Don Bosco particularly DBTC Rector Rev. Fr. Ronald G. Guiao, SDB and DBTC Principal Rev. Fr. Jerome Constantino.

The Bosconians, who are sponsored by KAISHU Seafood Japanese Restaurant and ERCO, train their sights next on the Victoria Cup in Baguio City from May 1 to 6.   (THE FREEMAN)
