CEBU - The MJDL Brokers of coach Gigi Ylaya handed the Amancia Brokers its first loss in four games, 81-70, in the lone 35-below division match of the 14th Collector’s Cup basketball tournament at the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Gym in Brgy. Punta Princesa, this city.
The high-leaping Jaymar Elloren and commercial veteran Danny Infantado proved the deadly one-two punch for MJDL finishing with19 and 17 points, respectively.
Freddie Ninel led the 3-1 Amancia Brokers with 20 points.
In the other game, the Junnie Ararao-led Mactan Hotmen demolished the Enforcement Security Service (ESS), 94-66. It also spoiled the 18-point show, all from beyond the arc, by ESS top hitman Jing-Jing Rama.
The Hotmen of coach Dacky Ugay stretched their unbeaten streak to three games in a row while dropping ESS to its second straight loss in as many games.
It was actually a twinkill for the MJDL cagers as they earlier clobbered the District Collector’s Office, 68-59, in the 35-above category.
Noel Medalle fired 23 points and Inting Bacalla added 15 as MJDL scored its second win in three starts.
Litoy Gacquing had 13 points, while Joseph Jayme was held off to a season-low 11 markers for the Atty. Paul Alcazaren-mentored District Collector’s Office, which dropped to 2-2.
