Differently-abled Cebuano wins swimming gold in POF

Cebu - A differently-abled athlete Joey Maglasang saved the day for the Team Cebu City tankers by fishing out gold in the official swimming event of the 3rd Philippine Olympic Festival in Cagayan de Oro City yesterday.

Maglasang, who is under the tutelage of Rolando Alvarez, ruled the 50-meter breaststroke event. He also had two silvers in the 50m and 100m butterfly and a bronze in the 100m freestyle.

On the other hand, Anthony Linn Navarro snatched a silver in the 10-under class via the 400m freestyle, while Danielle Mae Ballesteros got her second bronze through the 200m breaststroke in the POF classification.

TCC also got a bronze in the 4x50m mixed freestyle relay.

As of this writing, TCC has two golds, four silvers, and five bronzes in the official POF event.

In the Philippine Amateur Swimming Association (PASA) age-group tilt, TCC already has seven golds, 10 silvers and two bronzes.

Paula Abigail Vega got two more golds plus three silvers and two bronzes, while teammate Lyh Ann Navarro snatched a gold in the 400m freestyle.
