CEBU - In most golf tournaments, only the winners would be going home very happy, today, the 8th Charity Fun Golf Tournament at the Cebu Country Club promises to make hundreds of people happy as proceeds will be given to various charitable institutions.
The tournament is an 18-hole, full-handicap strokeplay event with an entry fee of P3,500. Participants, who would like to give more, are most welcome.
At stake for a hole-in-one on holes number 5 and 13 will be a Volvo C-30 courtesy of Pasajero Motors (Volvo Cebu). A Yamaha Crypton motorcycle is at stake for an ace on all par-3 holes.
The organizing Cebu Friends Forever for Charity Foundation Inc. expects about 120 players to take part in the event.
James Tan, one of the organizers, told The Freeman that there would be no giveaways as they are trying to keep the costs low so as to give a bigger amount to the various charitable institutions that are benefiting from this event.
Among the major beneficiaries are the Tzu Chi Foundation, Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF), and the Missionaries of Charity.
Representatives of these beneficiary institutions will be on hand during tonight’s awards ceremony to receive their checks.
At stake for the tournament would be prizes for the top three finishers for handicap categories A, B and C.
The Freeman Foundation is also one of the beneficiaries of the event.
Organizers raise funds for the tournament through the entry fees, sponsorships and donations from friends here and abroad. (THE FREEMAN)
