Gonzalez nails second ace at Alta Vista

CEBU - Sergio ‘Boy’ Gonzalez aced the 180-yard par-3 hole number 8 of Alta Vista Golf and Country Club last Saturday mid afternoon.

Gonzalez knocked in his tee shot using an Orlimar number 3 wood and a Titleist DT #4 ball. The ball flew on a perfect path off the tee, landed several feet from the hole, bounced twice, then rolled in.

The feat, which was his second at the course and third in his life, was witnessed by Rod Señido, Mel Bentlley of Australia and Irishman Alan Railton.

Gonzalez said that he and Señido were supposed to play with their regular group, but saw the two tourists waiting to be allowed to tee off as a two-some since it was a weekend and such would only be allowed after 2 p.m.

The two club members invited the tourists to join them.

Gonzalez’ first ace was made in Cleveland, Ohio, where he lived for 20 years before heading back home to Cebu. He scored his second ace two years ago on hole number 2 of AVGCC.

The caddies of the flight were Maryanne Delima, Miraflor Laugo, Zalde Villahermosa, and Dioscora Vallejo.—NLQ (THE FREEMAN)
