Ballesteros, Echavez break records in City Olympics

CEBU – Danielle Ballesteros and Loren Dale Echavez broke two records in swimming in the ongoing 18th Cebu City Olympics at the Cebu Sports Center.

Ballesteros, an 8-year-old tanker from the University of Southern Philippines (USPF), registered 1:30.72 to break the girl’s 100-meter breaststroke record of 1:35.93 set by Maribeth Ababon in 2000.

Ballesteros also won silver in the 200-meter IM that Trina Caneda won. Caneda, so far, has won two gold medals in the elementary division while Rey Lister Tungala, with three gold medals is leading the boy’s elementary division.
