Gacayan stars anew as Batch '70s wins in USCBHABA Atan Guardo hoopla

CEBU - For the second time, Jingjing Gacayan stole the show as the Gemmary and Ho Tong Hardware-sponsored Batch ’70s scored an 87-72 rout of Batch ’82 in the 2008 University of San Carlos Boys High Alumni Basketball Association (USCBHABA) Atan Guardo Barkadahan Cup at the USC-North Campus gym.

Gacayan scored 21 points for Batch ’70s, which kept Batch ’82 at bay after closing the third period with a 16-point advantage, 65-49.

Ex-pro and current M. Lhuillier assistant coach Tata Merced backed up Gacayan with 14 points followed by Audi Medina with 12 markers. Merced’s older brother Jeric and Joji Gelbolingo each scored 10.

Except for a 17-18 deficit in the first period, Batch ’70s led all the way by at least double figures including a 62-52 count at halftime.

Nathan Diaz had 28 points to pace Batch ’82.
