8th Island Tee slated Nov. 13 to 16 at MIGC

CEBU - The 8th Island Tee, the annual signature event of the Mactan Island Golf Club, tees off on November 13 to 16 at the MIGC course inside the Mactan Benito Ebuen Air Base in Lapu-Lapu City.

The event will follow a member-guest format where teams will play two rounds within the four-day period. The Modified Stableford Scoring System will be used.

This scoring format awards six points for a net double eagle, five for an ace, four for a net eagle, three for a net birdie, two for a net par, and one for a net bogey.

At stake are trophies and other prizes for the top three finishers of the various categories as well as the overall champion or the team with the best gross score.

The categories to be contested are classes A to d, ladies and seniors for teams whose players are at least 55 years old and the total age of the team is not less than 120 years.

At stake for an ace on holes No. 4 and 15 are a Kia Sportage, a set of Honma 5 stars irons, and P50 thousand worth of casino chips.

On holes number 6 and 11, a Nissan March, a Yamaha motorcycle, a set of Honma 5 stars irons, and P50 thousand worth of casino chips are up for a hole-in-one.

In case more than one player will win a certain set of prizes, they will have to equally share them.

The hole-in-one sponsors are Gateway Motors (Kia) Cebu, RDAK Special Units, Casino Filipino Mactan, Norkis Trading, and Eagle Port Pro Shop.

The awards ceremony is set on the 16th at the MIGC grounds.

The event is co-presented by the Philippine Amusements and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) Casino Filipino-Mactan with PLDT and Bayswater as platinum backers.

Retired Air Force General Rodante Joya, who is now the club’s general manager, said that this year they decided to make the event exclusive to member-guest teams to follow the tradition of club signature events. —NLQ (THE FREEMAN)
