CESAFI teams won't join VAAA caging

CEBU - The Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. board members made a consensus during their regular board meeting the other day not to allow any CESAFI-member team to see action in the 3rd Visayas Amateur Athletic Association (VAAA) men’s basketball tournament set to start on November 8 at the USC gym.

CESAFI commissioner Felix O. Tiukinhoy Jr. said that he conflict of schedules is the main reason of their decision. He said they are preparing for various leagues they intend to participate here and abroad.

Tiukinhoy revealed during the voting, six 6 out of nine members voted in favor of barring CESAFI teams from joining the VAAA.

Only one school voted in favor of joining VAAA, one abstained, while two were absent.

Tiukinhoy said the league is in the process of forming the CESAFI Selection, which play in Hong Kong this coming December. The teams are also preparing for the Collegiate Champions League in the last week of November and for the CESAFI Partner’s Cup beginning January 4.

The University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars and the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters for example, are going to Ormoc City on November 9-12 for the Visayas Zonals of the Champions League, while the University of San Carlos (USC) will go to Cagayan de Oro on November 14-16 for the Mindanao eliminations. – GGM (THE FREEMAN)
