CEBU - The Black and White teams triumphed over separate foes, even as Red also scored a victory in the Still Fighting Athletic Association (SFAA) inter-color basketball tournament at the CEC gym.
Black overshadowed Green, 91-82, while White stunned Blue, 78-75. Black and White now hold an even 2-1 win-loss record.
Red, on the other hand, dealth league front-runner Gold its first defeat, 64-57. From a blistering 25-8 start, Red kept pounding on Gold to post a commanding 38-14 advantage at halftime behind the hot hands of Renato Garcia and Teloy Abanes.
Gold, however, charged back courtesy of a 21-6 run to pull within just two points, 52-54, in the final two minutes of the contest.
It was Jun Ando and Jun Cleofe who sparked the Gold’s rally, but Red’s three-point artist Resil Yu and Sam Sacol displayed enough firepower to preserve their win.
Abanes had 15 points for Red, while Ando topscored for Gold with 20 points.
Jun Seno paced Black with 29 points followed by Ricky Lumayag and Nestor Kyamko with 17 and 12 points, respectively.
Green was led by Denie Pesquera with 26 points, while Archie Sabellano chipped in 16 markers.
Nelson Sabellano scored 20 points for White, while Turo Ricarte netted 21 points for Blue.
