CEBU - Ave Maria Sanctuary Park and Mabolo Christian Academy coasted to their second straight victory in the 6th M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala Under-21 Developmental Basketball League at the Consolacion Sports Complex.
Ave Maria SP of coach Marlon Piodo used a furious third-quarter attack to blow off the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers, 89-58, while Mabolo CA was made to work extra hard before fending off the gritty RemEmber side, 85-81.
Leading by nine points at the bend, 37-28, Ave Maria staged a crippling 29-12 rally in the third period to suddenly break the game wide open, 66-40. That dampened the Baby Panthers’ spirits the rest of the way.
In the other game, Mabolo CA turned to a spirited rally in the second canto to break an 18-all standoff and take a seven-point headway, 46-39, at halftime. Mabolo padded its lead to 10 points, 65-55, keeping RemEmber of Concolacion Vice Mayor Ember V. Alinsug and Poblacion Oriental barangay councilor Paul Alelu Q. Flores at bay from there onwards.
