CEBU - The Cebu Movers of playing coach Boy Te and G&S International of Don Guillen knocked out separate foes to set up a championship showdown in the Guadalupe Athletic Association (GAA) 9th Founder’s Cup 2008 basketball tournament at the Guadalupe Sports Complex.
The Movers were pushed to the limit before scraping through a 68-64 victory over MELO, while the G&S International tamed AC Sports, 84-77, in come-from-behind fashion.
Team MELO was trailing along the way, but a triple by skipper Lito Ocampo put them on the driver’s seat, 64-63, in the closing minutes of the contest.
The Movers, however, quickly recovered courtesy of the alternating baskets by Joel Alquizola and Dodong Elizalde.
Vincent “Inting” Reyes powered the Movers with 20 points, while Alquizola and Elizalde chipped in 15 and 10 markers, respectively.
Jumie Ararao, on the other hand, charted 38 points for G&S International. He was heavily backed up by William Jabines, Bars Miñoza and Eric Suan who banged in 10 markers apiece.
