Fil-Italian David “Dynamite” Denisi bannered the list of winners in the Yaw-Yan ArDigma Martial Arts Federation Inc. in-house competition billed as “Tribute to Grandmaster Nap” Kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts Fights last Saturday at the Yaw-Yan Headquarters located at Room 304 of Villacampa-Capuras Building just across the University of Cebu (UC) main campus along Sanciangko Street, this city.
Denisi capitalized on a powerful rear naked choke to pin down Junrey “the Hitman” Soquite of Durex Kickboxing Club at 2:47 of the first round in the main event of the MMA showdown.
Danilo “Alasan” Tudtud of Yaw-Yan ArDigma Cebu City, on the other hand, fought to a draw with Jay-R “The Standard” de la Torre of Mandaue City’s CMAC Kickboxing Club in the main attraction of kickboxing.
In the other MMA duel, Alvin “The Heat” Amistoso of Mixed Fighting System needed just 58 seconds to force Jonjer “The Danger” Cabalhug of Durex KC to quit on his stool.
In the special kickboxing bouts, Renan “Limbas” Noblefranca of Yaw-Yan ArDigma beat Lito “Fearless” Malabago of CMAC Kickboxing Club by TKO at 1:49 of the first round, while Johndave Epile of Team Soma prevailed over Clester Caparida of Black Scorpion by split decision.
In the other kickboxing matches, Jeff Malicay stopped Joel Caparida in round one, Bonbon Llera forced Armel Arcipe to wave the white flag at 2:51 of the first round, Patrick Alcala scored a second round TKO of Jovany Marba, Renan Manhipos edged out Jerry De la Vega by split decision, Jairus Ybañez needed only 45 seconds to dispose Junhil Hayag, and Ronald Alinsug overpowered Ryan Limutan at 1:22 of the second round.
Rodney Marababon caught part of the spotlight by crushing Edsel Julom at 2:08 of the second round, in the same way with Junereiy Gitgano and Dondon Gesta, who both came up with a first round whacking of Mario Sevilla and Alberto Compedio, respectively.
The battle between Geronimo Etac and Adam Torbiso ended in a majority draw.
Event organizer and Yaw-Yan ArDigma Cebu founder Benigno “Master Ekin” R. Caniga, Jr. said that proceeds of the tournament will be used for the medical expenses of Yaw-Yan ArDigma forerunner Grandmaster Napoleon A. Fernandez, who recently suffered a stroke. – EBV
