The Cebu Movers of playing coach Boy Te edged out MGR, 92-85, to complete a seven-game elimination round sweep in the Guadalupe Athletic Association (GAA) 9th Founder’s Cup over the weekend at the Guadalupe Sports Complex.
The Movers took full control of the game from the start and virtually put the win in their bag after taking an imposing 22-point bulge, 78-56, going into the final 10 minutes of the contest.
Vincent “Inting” Reyes and Flordie Lodoña spearheaded the Movers’ relentless offensive to finish with 20 and 14 points, respectively.
Four other Movers’ key players registered double figures including Te with 10 markers.
Belmore Mejares paced MGR with 20 points followed by Lito Posadas with 18. Beboy Escuyos and Nestor Gabunada dished out 17 markers apiece in a losing cause.
In the other games, Team SWAN of Chito Nabua snapped out of its six-game losing streak after pulling off a 73-70 upset of the highly-favored Agencia Grande, MELO overwhelmed J-Art, 99-80, while Aqua Serv skinned the Tigers alive, 91-80. (GGM)
