Kalyka Carcel affirms girl power in karting over boys rivals

Kalyka Antoni “Kali” Carcel, whose name was first heard in taekwondo, now carved her name in karting as she overpowered her boys rivals to rule her category in the 3rd leg of Kartzone Karting Series 2008 the other day at Kartzone in Panagdait, Brgy. Mabolo, this city.

The young Kali Carcel somehow proved she too can be a champion karter like her brother Tonyo.

Kali raced too fast and furious in all three heats that made her deserving of the mini ROK crown.

“She was determined to win. Maybe it’s time for girls to win a boys’ game,” said Kali’s dad, Neil Carcel.

Kali missed the first leg this year as she was in Manila for another competition, while in the second leg, she got bumped off while trailing his brother.

Jette Calderon finished behind Kali, while JT Gullas copped the third place honors.

Tonyo Carcel, the early favorite, tried so hard to catch up with the rest during the third and final heat.

However, the more he tried, the more he got into trouble as the wiring of his kart’s battery to the engine got cut off.
