There will be no more walkover wins today in the 2008 Prince Age-group Tennis Tournament at the Cebu Country Club.
At least in the boys and girls 12-under category.
Rodolfo Barquin and Francis Dominic Lanzado will dispute the title. Barquin, who advanced into the final, with a double walkover wins, plays Lanzado, who beat Reinir Singson 8-4. Lanzado said after the game that because of his effort, he deserves the title, but of course, Barquin disagrees.
In the girls’ final, it will be Clarissa Mae Fuentes versus Elgy Dasian.
Fuentes and Dasian came out winners in their respective semifinal matches to arrange the showdown. Fuentes clobbered Mia Obordo 8-0 while Dasian silenced Marie Nicole Eskomo 8-1.
The day will be busier with the girls U-18, U-16, boys and girls U-14, and unisex U-10 semifinals slots completed.
Kurt Gerapusco advanced to the semis in the boys U-14 via walkover while AJ Torion took the other berth with an 8-3 win over Kim Ayuda.
Cheska Tabotabo, Maria Jojin Loreto and Ana Bienes all qualified for the semifinal of the girls U-14 after winning in the quarters. Tabotabo blanked Rhea Briones 8-0, Loreta beat Elma Dasian 8-3 while Bienes whipped Diazzaner Antipaso 8-0. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
