Largo, Cabahug rule in Milo tennis

2008 Palarong Pambansa gold medallist Francis Largo recovered from a first-set drawback to repulse Kennex Abadia via tie-breaker in their final duel and take home the boys 18-under title of the 2008 Milo Age-Group Tennis Championships-Cebu leg yesterday at the Villa Aurora tennis courts in Brgy. Mabolo, this city.

Largo advanced into the final round with an 8-4 drubbing of Amiel Aya-ay, while Abadia booked the remaining final ticket after booting out Princeton Gerapusco, 8-5.

Largo fumbled in the first set, 1-6, but took the second frame, 6-1 to forge a rubbermatch. Largo had the last laugh as he clobbered Abadia in the decider, 10-4.

Another Cebuano netter Christian John Cabahug stole part of the limelight, sweeping Jayvee Canoy with uniform scores of 6-1, 6-1 to wrap up the boys 16-under crown.

Christian John pulled off a 8-7 squeaker over Amiel Aya-ay in the semis, while Canoy stunned the top-ranked  Princeton Gerapusco, 8-5.

There will be no rest for Largo and Cabahug and the rest of the players as they see action in another PHILTA-sanctioned tilt, the Prince Age-Group which will kick off today at Cebu Country Club. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
