Subang daku spikers rule Inter-Baranggay volleyball

The Subangdaku spikers completed their unbeaten run to clinch the inaugural championship of the Mayor Jonas Cortes Cup Inter-Barangay Volleyball Tournament at the Mandaue City volleyball courts

The Dino Arribal-mentored Subangdaku triumphed over Maguikay in straight sets behind the powerful attacks of two-time CESAFI MVP Roderick Arenasa and Edward Carlo Tecson.

The efforts of Geroel Aragones, Rio Encabo, Aldin Potot, Rene Cababan, Demetrio Amomonpon, Christian Mansueto. Bernabe Marquez, Arvin Bonsukan, Abner Embrado, Dandy Quidlat, Mamerto and Fernando Dumaog also paved the way for Subangdaku’s victory.

Arenasa took the coveted Most Valuable Player plum, while Tecson was chosen as the Best Attacker. The Best Libero award went to Leo Baldapan of  Maguikay.

In the battle for third place, Omapad fended off Ibabao Estancia.

Aside from trohies and medals, Subangdaku of Brgy. Capt. Walter Dy went home with P15, 000, while Maguikay got P10,000.

Impressed by the successful outcome of the tournament, Mayor Jonas Cortes is planning to hold similar event next month as a runup to the city’s Charter Day celebration.
