Cebuana junior tennis star Sally Mae Siso clinched a double victory in the Hilado Cup at the Rizal Memorial tennis courts yesterday.
Siso took the girls 16-under title after a masterful 7-5, 6-2 victory over Samantha Coyuito.
On Friday, Siso annexed her first title in the tournament by beating Macy Gonzales 6-3, 6-0 in the 14-under division final.
Gonzales was thinking of a rematch with Siso after she advanced into the semifinal round of the 16-under division. The supposed rematch didn’t happen after Coyuito beat Gonzales in their semifinal match.
Coyuito showed why she is a worthy finalist by giving Siso a hard time in the first set before the latter finally prevailed.
In the second set, the top Cebuana junior netter put her best game forward to avoid playing a third set, as she was to leave for China after the game.
Siso, along with Gonzales and Shanine Olivarez left the court right after the game to catch their flight to China that was to leave at 2:30 pm.
The top three junior netters will represent the country in the 2008 Asia-Oceania World Juniors Championships at the East Lake Tennis club in Shenzen slated from April 21 to 27. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
