Cebuano netters sizzle in Bacolod leg of Head Penn tennis

The Cebuano netters reigned supreme in their respective categories at the close of the 4th leg of the Head Penn Tennis Tour yesterday at the Noah Heaven tennis courts in Montevista, Bacolod City.

Dan Eldred Sinco of the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) survived a three-set thriller over Pardo’s Ariel Jay Torion, 2-6, 6-4, 11-9 to lord it over in the boys 14-under division.

Franklin Encarcion of Dumanjug, on the other hand, topped the boys 16-under class by edging out Cyril Camporedondo of the University of the Visayas (UV) in straight sets,  6-4, 6-2.

In the girls 12-under category, San Carlos City’s Jessa Mel Singson outsmarted Abby Gale Amador,  6-2, 6-2 to take home the champion’s trophy, while Roxanne Alepala of host Bacolod overpowered fellow Bacoleño Isabel Misa at 6-2, 6-0 to dominate the girls 14-under category.

In the unisex 10-under, Ryle Singson of Bacolod  routed Carl Cathedral, 6-4, 6-2 to clinch the gold.

The tournament’s next stop will be at the La Paz tennis courts in Iloilo City on April 18 to 21.
