JRJ Enterprises 2007 upended Jepoy Sales 2001 in overtime, 65-61, while JV Bakeshop ’99 edged out sister-team Batch 2002, 61-50, to finally break into the win column of the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association’s 10th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the City Sports Club-Cebu Gym.
Raymark Ryan Ong unloaded a season-high 30 points on top of 11 rebounds and three steals as Class 2007 evened its win-loss record to 3-3.
Juan Carlo Espada added 18 points, four rebounds and three steals for Class 2007, which banked on a solid second-half show to turn back Class 2001.
The JRJ Enterprises-sponsored squad trailed by 13 points at halftime, but rallied back in the next two quarters to forge a 57-all deadlock at the end of the regulation period, thus, the overtime.
In the extension, Class 2007 poured in its extra energy left to pin down the fagged out Class 2001.
Marlon Lao and Alwyn Ong each had 15 points for Class 2001, which slipped to 2-4.
In the other game, Ralph Tan netted 23 points and 14 rebounds as Class ’99 battered Class 2002 in the first two quarters to mount a 30-20 lead at halftime. Class 2002 pulled within 36-38, but Class ’99 staged a sizzling 24-13 rally in the windup to seal the win.
Troy Symington Tan chipped in 11 markers for Class ’99 followed by John Jason Baladya with 10.
David Chan had 21 points, six rebounds, four blocks, three assists and three steals but his all-around performance went to waste as Class 2002 slumped to its fifth loss in six starts.
