Lim leads drag race opening rites

David Lim, the country’s fastest racer, will spearhead today’s opening ceremony as he competed in the time trial run of the Mayor Tomas Osmeña Cup VI National Drag Race Competition at exactly 9:00 am at the South Road Properties (SRP).

Wenwen Dayonon, the fastest female drag racer, will see action alongside Lim, and will race against Class A riders from Bacolod, Iloilo and Cebu.

Defending Class D champion, Christine Velasco, will starts to defend her title in the event’s night race at 8:00 pm.

The rest of the races kick off tomorrow. 

As with last year, this year’s event features six categories, the Quick 8, featuring the eight fastest cars in the race, Class A with a clocking of 12.99 seconds and faster, Class B with 13 to 14.49 seconds, Class C with 14.5 to 15.99, Class D with 16 seconds and slower and the “Old School” category.

Today, fans will have the chance to ask for autographs or pause for pictures with racers during the practice run.

“Good luck to all competitors. I would like to have a good, fun and safe competition”, said Neil Labrador, the tournament manager of the event.
