PARM gives P110T to PWDs

The Philippine Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine (PARM) Visayas Council donated P110,000 to Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) during a press conference held at Moon Café on Valentine’s Day.

Dr. Renald Peter T. Ramiro, the chairman of PARM VIS handed the symbolic amount to Geraldine “Gigi” Ruiz, president of the Organization of Rehab Agencies (ORA) in Cebu.

The amount is the proceeds of the MOVE 5K Run held on December 2 in Cebu City. The money automatically becomes seed money in helping defray hospital expenses of indigent PWDs.“This amount is PARM’s Valentine’s gift to all Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in Central Visayas.  This initial amount now makes the PARM CRITICAL ILLNESS FUND (CIF) a reality...addressing the health care needs of our indigent PWD brothers and sisters,” explained Dr. Ramiro.

Ramirez appreciated the efforts of PARM and was very grateful to the group. “Thank you. God bless and more power,” she said.

At the same forum, Dr. Ramiro said that with the success of the MOVE 5K Run they are planning at least two other fund raising runs this year in the Visayas.

Ramiro said they are looking at the “Heroes Run” on November 30 in Mandaue City which will feature 5K and 10K distances.  The other fund raising run will be in Bacolod City, in time for the Masskara Festival, in October.
