League leader Lapu-Lapu City Chiefs seek revenge when they host tonight the unpredictable Talisay Aquastars as the 1st Cebu Inter-City Cup Basketball Challenge resumes at the Lapu-Lapu City hardcourt.
The Chiefs are on top of the standings with a 5-1 win-loss card and are eager to get back at their tormentors —the Aquastars —who spoiled what could have been a perfect record before the Holiday break.
The Talisay Aquastars, on the other hand, will try to improve on their 2-3 record and is out to prove that their win over the Chiefs was no fluke.
In the other game, the Toledo Dream hosts winless Cebu City Niños at the Barba Sports Complex in Toledo City.
The Niños actually won a thrilling game against Talisay 73-71 on November 30 but had to forfeit the game due to a technicality. Rey Maraña wore a wrong jersey number forcing the organizers to award the game to Talisay after the latter lodged a protest.
The Niños will also be playing with interim coach Ope Abellana because former head coach Pablo Yu has accepted a coaching job in the CECABA.
Cebu City will rely on Burong Villanueva and Allan Abataya among others while Toledo has former UV Lancer Victor Mago.
The Inter-City basketball tournament has Nature’s Spring, Omega Pain Killer, Casino Rubbing Alcohol, CFL Focus, Yayo’s Grill, MLKP and La Fortuna Bakery as sponsors. (GGM)
