Promising Cebuano netter Jacob Lagman ended his 2007 campaign with a bang, whipping Manila’s Hans Asistion in straight sets to claim the boys 12-under title of the Milo Junior Tennis Cup yesterday at the Philam Tennis Club in Quezon City.
Lagman, who will now be campaigning in the 14-under class next year, prevailed over Asistio in the first set, 6-4. That gave him the needed confidence to complete a sweep in lopsided fashion, 6-1.
Lagman barged into the final round after blanking Kyle Parpan, 6-0, 6-0.
Inspired by his younger brother’s victory, Julius Lagman pulled away a convincing 6-2, 6-1 victory over Regie Mangapuo in the quarterfinals of the 21-under category.
Julius was playing against Mic Fernandez for a championship berth as of this writing yesterday.
