CDO-UV eyes Partner’s Cup title today

The CDO Hamburger-backed University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers will go for the jugular tonight against the VFI Hotdogs-sponsored University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars in Game 3 of the Partner’s Cup best-of-five championship showdown at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Lancers are a win away from the championship title after sweeping the first two games of the championship series against the Jaguars.

Should the tournament ends today, Partner’s Cup commissioner, the 4-time PBA MVP awardee Ramon "El Presidente" Fernandez will be awarding the trophy to the Lancers.

The Lancers started off their championship game against the Jaguars with a 101-78 blowout win but they were stretched to the limit in the second game, surviving 85-80.

But today, the crowd will be witnessing a different Lancer team as they will be missing 6-7 Rino Berame, who will be serving a one-game suspension.

The Jaguars will also be playing without Randy Pogoy, who figured out in a near fracas with Berame resulting to their ejection in Game 2.

The Lancers will be looking at Morsie Akad, Von Harry Lanete, Ritchum Dennison, Jaysar Esperat and Harlow Chad Villanil to deliver the championship trophy but Jaguars will do everything they can to stretch the series behind the efforts of Luther Justiniani, Lyndon Gudez, John Malinao, Manny Gabas, Bobby Hatague, Jessmar Villahermosa and Armand Ponce.
