Domingo set to defend RP bantam title tonight

Domingo likewise aims to jump back into the winning track after losing by ninth round knockout to Frenchman Frederick Patrac in their World Boxing Foundation (WBF) 118-pound title bout in his previous match last October 3 at the Palais des Sports in Agde, France

Domingo will stake for the third time, the crown he seized by dethroning Joel Bauya of Emil Romano Stable via ninth round technical decision on July 30 last year at the San Andres Sports and Civic Center in Manila.

In his previous defense, Domingo eked out a split decision victory over a very game Johnny Lear last July 15 at the Metropolis Mall in Alabang.

Domingo sports a 29-15-3 win-loss-draw record with 14KOs, but lost only once in nine fights since he hooked up with SGG Stable of international promoter Sammy Gello-ani in late 2004.

Gabejan (13-11, 4KOs), on the other hand, is coming off back-to-back losses, including against Thai Fahsan 3K Battery by unanimous verdict during their IBF Pan Pacific super bantamweight championship duel last February 17 in Ayutthaya, Thailand

In the equally-explosive supporting main event, WBA Pan African light flyweight champion Bert Batawang will clash head-on with Rey Orais, while ALA Boy Rocky Fuentes battles Rolly Mandahinog in another 10-round rumble.

Batawang is very brutal in his last two fights, forcing Noel Veronque to throw in the towel in the second round, before stopping Robert Rubillar in round three last September 9 at the newly-refurbished Danao City Sports and Civic Center.

Orais also showed some class though by knocking out former world title challenger Noel Tuñacao in the third round last October 3 in Dumanjug, south of Cebu.

A special attraction bout will feature former SEA Games medallist and undefeated prospect Mark Jason Melligen of the ALA Stable against former RP champion Rex Marzan.

Also to watch out for is Talisay City's homegrown talent Rashied Bacus, who will open the swashbuckling card against a Butuan City fighter.

The rest of the bouts pit Reman Salim of SGG Stable against Rico Genon, Rogen Flores versus Roel Honor and Marjo Borres opposite Ranie Pamatian.

Presented by SGG Sports Promotions in partnership with the Talisay Sports Commission headed by councilor Rodi Cabigas, the slambang showdown will be covered by VIVA Sports and will aired on a delay telecast over the weekly show '"Main Event" at 2 pm on Sunday over RPN 9.
