11th Milo Little Olympics awarding rites set this am

The top performing schools and individual athletes in the recently-concluded 11th Milo Little Olympics will formally be feted today in a simple awarding ceremonies starting at 10 am at the Cebu Grand Convention Center.

More than P300,000 will be given away to the top performers in the two-weekend competition.

Milo Sports director Pat Goc-ong is expected to grace the awarding rites after missing the opening bash two weeks ago due to other commitments.

The University of Cebu, which hauled a total of 40 gold, 27 silver and 17 bronze medals, is the overall champion in the secondary division, while Cebu City Central School dominated the elementary competition with 14 gold, six silver and five bronze medals.

They will receive P40,000 each.

Behind UC in the overall rankings are the University of the Visayas-Main (14-12-9), University of San Carlos-South Campus (7-4-2) and Cebu City Don Carlos A. Gothong Memorial National High School (4-2-4).

The fifth to 10th placers are the University of San Jose-Recoletos (3-9-15), UV-Mandaue (3-5-4), Camp Lapu-Lapu National High School (3-2-2), Grace Christian School of Bohol (3-2-1), Royal Oaks International School (3-2-0), and the Abellana National School (2-11-10).

In the elementary level, rounding up the top 10 placers are Sacred Heart School-Jesuit (7-7-6), Mandaue City Central School (6-3-7), UV-Main (5-9-6), San Nicolas Elementary School (5-7-5), Formation School and Kiddies Learning Center (5 golds), Labangon Elementary School (4-2-5), Sotero B. Cabahug Forum for Literacy (4-1-0), USJ-R (3-7-0) and Talamban Elementary School (3-3-3).

The second to fourth placers will receive P20,000, P10,000 and P5,000, respectively. The fifth to the 10th will get P3,000 each.
