USC rules PBC Youth bowling

The University of San Carlos (USC) won two gold, two silvers and a bronze medal to dominate the Philippine Bowling Congress Youth Inter-School Third Quarter Bowling Tournament at the Gaisano Bowlingplex the other day.

Clark Tiu led the cast for USC after winning the gold medal in the collegiate division-boys action, downing a 1,163 pins in six games.

It was actually a swept for USC in the said division after Tiu's teammate, Earl Benedict Uy grabbed the silver with 1,011 pinfalls and Rafael Veloso with the bronze with 895 pinfalls.

Xyrra Cabusas of the USC-South Campus won the bantam division-girls' gold medal without opposition, accumulating 563 pinfalls after four games.

Clarence Tiu, on the other hand, settled for a silver in the majors division-boys battle covering a total of five games.

Tiu was second to Sacred Heart School-Jesuit's John Gasataya after toppling 945 pins, 145 points behind Gasataya's 1,088 output as another SHS-J bet, Jomar Jumapao, was third with 891 pinfalls.

On the other hand, it was a 1-2 finish for the Lims in the collegiate-girl's division with Michelle Lim taking away the gold after collecting 963 points and Jacklyn with the silver with 950.

The major division-girls class saw SHS-HDJ's Kimberly Lao with the gold after knocking out 830 pins after five games over Velez's Rocci Damole, who had 812 as University of Southern Philippines-Foundation's Nikki Tan ended with a bronze with 758.

The boys' division saw Adrian Zuluaga of Paref-Springdale without a challenger, taking the gold with 842 points.

Philippine Christian Gospel School's Alexis Sy, Center for Education's Misha Co and SHS-HDJ's Germaine Uang completed the cast of winners in the girls junior division.

Sy earned 896 points after five games as Co ended with 833 for the silver and Uang for the bronze with 801.

The winners of the tournament will qualify for the PBC Annuals in Manila on Dec. 26 at Pearl Bowling Center, Paranaque, Metro Manila.

The fourth Quarter action is scheduled on November 5 at Gaisano Bowlingplex.
