CESAFI football ends in draw

The collegiate football action in the Cebu Schools Athletic Federation Inc. (CESAFI) all ended in a draw at the University of San Carlos Talamban Campus.

The University of San Carlos ended with a scoreless draw against the University of San Jose-Recoletos in the opener.

Both USC and USJ-R stepped into the field with the same target, which is to claim its second win after silencing its opponents their opening matches.

USC's Joe Simplelo was slapped with a yellow card in the 71st minute but that didn't give the Jaguars the edge.

But the draw did not affect the team standing as USC still got the lead with four points and four goal difference.

On the other hand, defending champion University of the Visayas started its defense with a 2-2 draw against the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation Panthers.

UV's Junard Aguilar got the first goal of the game in the seventh minute but USPF'John Pacana answered back in the 15th minute to tie the battle at 1-all before teammate Michael Diano got a warning.

Jomar Labastida gave back the lead for UV after scoring in the 46th minute, but not for long as Frederick Alazas failed to keep his cool and got a yellow in the 55th minute paving the way for USPF's Christian Pacana to score four minutes after.
