Vincent "Inting" Reyes and Juanito Sasing each delivered three all-important triples to lead the CX Plus John Arne Construction to a 91-71 rout of Summit Drinking Water to gab the first finals ticket.
Later, the Tipasi All-Star, led by playing coach Atty. Jun Felicitas, trampled on the Flammazine, powered by ex-USC Warrior John Engel Sievert, 79-66, to earn the right to play John Arne in the knockout finals.
In that unforgettable two-point loss, coach Te said they lacked at least four players including Reyes and besides, they suffered a defensive breakdown in the dying seconds, allowing Dodong Espinosa to heave up the winning shot.
Last Sunday, Reyes led John Arne with 16 points including three triples while Sasing had 14 points also with three triples.
The game was still tied at 61-all at the end of the third period and Summit Drinking Water even surprised John Arne by taking a brief lead but Reyes scored back-to-back triples and later Sasing hit his own trey as John Arne opened up a 70-62 lead, still 7:24 left in the ballgame.
Pablo Sullano also joined in the scoring fray for John Arne scoring 12 points identical with that of Dr. Oliver Seno, who played one of his finest games in the tournament.
Doing the finishing kick of the fourth period were John Seno, Alvin Mauro and Te himself sending Summit reeling to the strands.
Frank Estorba led Summit with 19 points. It was the second time Summit lost to John Arne in the SWFC caging.
