Class '89/93 could have wrapped up the win early as it led by two points, 48-46, with 10 seconds left in the regulation period. However, Ryan Alexis Mendez muffed what could been the insurance free throws.
In the ensuing play, Class '81/85 playmaker Stephen Lee fired an airball from the 3-point land, but fortunately Joel Chan was there to turn garbage into gold at the final buzzer, thus, sending the game into overtime.
Chan, however, did not show up in the extension due to cramps in his leg that took its heavy toll on Class '81/85. It was indeed a sorry loss for them as they were up by as much as 14 points midway in the second period.
Mendez topped with 20 points, while Allan Leith Ting added 17 points, eight rebounds, four steals and three assists as Class '89/93 ended its elimination round campaign at second place in Division I with a 7-1 win-loss record.
Joel Chan and Wilson Yu had solid double-double show for Class '81/85, but their efforts went for naught as they fell to fourth spot with a 6-2 slate. Chan had 14 points, 17 rebounds, seven assists, and four steals, while Yu added 14 points and the same number of rebounds.
In the other game, Elvis Evangelista unloaded 25 points on top of 16 rebounds, while four others scored in double figures as Cokaliong Shipping '98 washed away Techni-Ice 2001, 76-55.
Class '98 now holds a 5-4 card, while Class 2001 slumped to 2-7.
