Gorres, Chuwatana presscon today

Before they trade punches atop the ring, the main protagonists of "A Dream Come True" boxing extravaganza will engage first in a sizzling verbal tussle in today's pre-fight news conference at 12 nn at the Baseline Restaurant.

Expected to steal the show in the Penrex-sponsored affair is ALA prodigy Z "The Dream" Gorres, who is set to tackle Thai veteran Waengpetch Chuwatana in a 12-round war for the vacant OPBF super flyweight title headlining the blockbuster card this Saturday at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex.

In the supporting main event, Gorres' stablemate, reigning WBO Asia Pacific super featherweight champion Czar Amonsot, will collide with another Thai visitor in Decho Bankluaygym.

Interestingly, Gorres and Amonsot were similarly impressive in clobbering their Mexican foes during their previous fights last February 4 at the Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Gorres, one of Mandaue's fearsome foursome, caught everyone in complete awe after he brutally punished Jose Alfredo Tirado enroute to a lopsided 10-round shutout, while the pride of Tagbilaran City Amonsot pulled off a convincing win by unanimous verdict over the iron-chinned Christian Favela.

Gorres and Amonsot will surely treat their Cebuano fans to another solid night of fistic action this Saturday.

Other rising ALA Stable stars to watch out for in the explosive show presented by international promoter Sammy Gello-ani are Rocky Fuentes, AJ Banal, Robert Allanic and Rey Caitom.

Fuentes clashes with Jojo Bardon of Rex "Wakee" Salud Stable in a 12-round brawl for the Philippine flyweight championship, while Banal will take on his first foreign foe in Dechapol Bankluaygym of Bangkok, Thailand.

Allanic, on the other hand, goes up against Jun Pader of the Butuan City-based Bernard Yu Stable, while Caitom faces an acid test as he takes on Robert Rubillar of Manila's Elorde Stable.

The rest of the bouts feature Japanese welterweight Nori Iwatani against Aeta-native John Carlos, Franklin Albia versus Bryn Terez, Nic Banal opposite Rolly Baclayo, and Niñolito Jalnaiz against Noel Acasio.
