But Global Accent sparked a daring comeback on CJ Dela Cruz and Warren Lyne's breakaway drives in the last two minutes to give its first taste of the lead, 73-72.
Yao Desucatan and Jong Ilogon joined in the fray as they also pitched in important baskets in the winding minutes to help bail Global out of danger.
Lyne and Dela Cruz compiled 22 and 21 points, respectively, while James Ayabana charted away 27 markers to lead the losing side.
In the opener, the Atillo Subdivision sponsored J-Art Sportswear wiped out F. Pacaña, 101-86, to snatch third place.
Dominic Enriquez fired a tournament-high 43 points to power Atillo as Reeve Jumawan posted 25 for F. Pacaña.
Making up the mythical five were Dela, who was named MVP, Lyne, Cesar Tabar, Oliver Sanoy and Dominic Enriquez.
