The top seed in the collegiate division, Soquino easily dispatched Dumoran, 6-1, 6-3, to grab the crown. His entrance to the final round, though, was not easy as he hurdled a grueling three set victory over Niño John Villa in the semifinals.
In the distaff side saw 2005 Arafura Games medal winner Floreza Alesna of University of San Carlos taking the crown over schoolmate Richel Idos, 1-6, 6-4, 10-6.
Joining Soquino and Alesna in the winners row is another 2005 Arafura Games medallist Macy Solon of Dumaguete City, who knocked down Jin Querubin of University of San Jose-Recoletos, 6-3, 6-4, to capture the secondary girls tiara.
The final battle in the secondary boys division is still being played as of press time with John Francis Largo and James Carl Cañete, both from UV, disputing the crown.
