The 38-year-old Espinosa, who is reportedly mired in poverty in the US that forced him to continue fighting despite he's already washed up, endured humiliating defeats in his last two fights.
Espinosa was stopped by Carlos Navarro in the seventh round before being knocked out by Cristobal Cruz in the third round on February 18, 2005 at the Memorial Civic Auditorium in Stockton, California.
Espinosa is locked up in a court battle against controversial promoter Rod Nazario, matchmaker Lito Mondejar and former South Cotabato Governor Hilario de Pedro regarding his unpaid purse which he has been pursuing for eight long years.
The case stems from Espinosa's 1997 successful world featherweight title defense in Koronadal, South Cotabato where he defeated Carlos Rios of Argentina.
Despite the triumphant defense, Espinosa has had futile attempts to get his long-delayed purse amounting to $160,000.
Espinosa currently holds a 47-13 win-loss record with 26KOs, while Sim carries a 20-4-1 win-loss-draw ledger with 10KOs.
Espinosa once held the WBC featherweight and WBA bantamweight titles, while Sim once owned the WBA featherweight and lightweight belts.
