CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Provincial Intelligence Branch has filed criminal complaints before the Toledo City Prosecutor’s Office on Saturday against a woman arrested for selling and possession of illegal drugs.
Ezra Nicola Hernandez is facing charges for violation of Section 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, said Senior Inspector Leo Logroño of PIB.
On January 3, Hernandez was arrested after she handed over a pack of shabu to a police officer during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Poblacion, Toledo City. She was detained at Toledo City Police Station.
The police further recovered shabu from the house of the suspect four large packs of, five smaller packs of shabu and a digital weighing scale.
The confiscated shabu weighed 22.2 grams and was estimated to worth P261,960.
The operation was carried out by PIB along with the Provincial Investigation and Detection Management Branch and the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group.
Logroño said Hernandez was placed under one-week surveillance prior to the buy-bust operation.
He added that the suspect sells shabu at her home and had engaged in illegal drug trade since last year with residents of Barangay Poblacion and neighboring barangays as her customers. — (FREEMAN)
