CEBU, Philippines - 32-year-old farmer died after he was stabbed by two brothers past 5:00 p.m. on Monday in Barangay Mantalongon, Dalaguete town.
Ricardo Cartesiano, 32, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Julio Cardinal Rosales Memorial Hospital.
Cartesiano's neighbors, brothers Jose and Felix Cataytay, both of Sitio Sampig, Barangay Mantalongon, Dalaguete were identified as the suspects.
Police investigation revealed that Cartesiano was riding a motorcycle when the Cataytay brothers suddenly blocked his way and stabbed him in his chest and stomach several times using a hunting knife.
Cartesiano fell to the ground while the suspect immediately fled.
Cartesiano's wife, Rosalyn, brought her husband to the local hospital but he was already dead when they arrived.
The police said the suspects could have been harboring grudges against the victim.
The victim's wife told investigator Senior Police Officer 3 Cleto Pia that her husband and the Cataytay brothers had a heated argument few days before the stabbing incident.
Elements from the Dalaguete police are conducting follow-up operation for the arrest of the brothers, who are still at large. A charge for murder will be filed against them. — (FREEMAN)
