CEBU, Philippines - A job order worker of the City of Naga and three other drug suspects who were caught during a buy-bust operation of the National Bureau of Investigation last week are now detained at the Naga City Jail following the filing of charges in court.
NBI-7 supervising agent Rennan Oliva said they have already turned over Ricardo Cantillas, Zosimo Abaquita, Ariel Sarusal and Arnnette Sarusal to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology. The charges will be raffled off to a judge on Monday.
Cantillas, field inspector of the Office of the Building Official in the City of Naga, was arrested together with Abaquita, Ariel, and Arnnette on January 17, 2014 in Sitio Mohon Barangay Langtad.
Oliva, who led the operation, said they conducted three weeks surveillance against Abaquita after receiving information that the latter was selling shabu.
Abaquita was charged with violations of Section 5 (illegal selling of shabu), Section 6 (maintaining drug den), Section 11 (illegal possession of shabu), and Section 12 (illegal possession of drugs paraphernalia) of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Cantillas, a resident of Tanke-1, Naga City, was charged with violation of Section 5 (delivery of shabu) and violation of RA 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Arnnette of Sitio Nangkaan, Sangat, San Fernando, Cebu and Ariel of Sitio Mohon, Langtad were both charged with Section 7 (visiting drug den) of RA 9165.
Naga City Prosecutor Napoleon Alburo recommended P100,000 bail each for Arnnette and Ariel. But, no bail was allowed for Cantillas and Abaquita.— (FREEMAN)
