CEBU, Philippines - The Liberal Party allies in Cebu have dominated the leadership of both the regional and provincial chapters of the National Movement of Young Legislators (NMYL) during its elections held recently.
Cebu Provincial Board Member Miguel Antonio Magpale, also an LP ally appointed as convener of NMYL Central Visayas, led the reorganizational meeting and conduct of elections.
Pinamungajan, Cebu Councilor Anthony Jeffrey Yapha (LP) was elected as new president of NMYL Central Visayas while the vice president is town councilor Jed Bryce Sinda of Mabinay, Negros Oriental.
Other regional officers who are also allies of LP are Councilor Erwin Gica of Dumanjug as treasurer, Councilor Jose Jefferson Ceniza of Mandaue City as assistant treasurer, Councilor Francis Sydney Belciña as secretary, Cebu PB Member Christopher Baricuatro as assistant secretary, Vice Mayor Mary Therese Sitoy - Cho of Cordova as auditor and Councilor John Anthony Añober of Barili as public relations officer.
Catmon, Cebu Councilor Earl Tidy Oyas was also unanimously elected president of NMYL — Cebu Province Chapter
Other provincial chapter officers are Yapha of as vice chairman, Belcina as secretary, Councilor Richard Francis Aznar of Talisay City as assistant secretary, Gica as treasurer, Councilor Joy Ann Cabatingan of Compostela as assistant treasurer, Councilor John Borgonia of Balamban as auditor, Councilor Jayson Repaso of Santa Fe as PRO.
Aznar belongs to Nacionalista Party, Borgonia of One Cebu and Repaso as independent while the rest are all LP allies.
NMYL is an aggrupation of young legislators from vice governors, board members, municipal and city councilors who are 40 years old and below when they were elected into office.
The election held last week was attended by DILG Provincial Director Jerome Gonzales; NMYL Western Visayas president, Atty. Powell del Rosario and Peachy Aguado, of the national secretariat.
Magpale in his inspiring message emphasized the need to sustain the dynamism of young legislators' programs and advocacy for competence, good governance, develop projects and formulate a comprehensive planning program to empower youth legislative programs in support to the provincial and national government.
Magpale also vowed to support the programs of NMYL. — (FREEMAN)
