CEBU, Philippines - The provincial engineers have initially proposed an estimated P100,000 housing assistance for every two houses damaged or destroyed by the typhoon in northern Cebu, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office officer-in-charge Evelyn Senajon confirmed.
"Mo-matter gyud (assistance) kon totally or partially damaged (house), kon partially damaged lang, of course dili mo-abot ug ingon anang kantidad," said Senajon.
Shesaid that the province has yet to determine the recipients of the assistance.
She said the intervention of the province will largely depend on the materials that have not yet been provided by other local and foreign organizations who donated housing assistance to the public.
Senajon said they will make sure of a systematic distribution of construction materials to avoid duplication in releasing them.
Senajon added the province foresees the construction of permanent houses for typhoon Yolanda survivors and not just temporary shelter.
She further said they have yet to conduct a meeting regarding the total number of destroyed and damaged houses in 15 typhoon-hit areas in northern Cebu.
To recall, the 15 badly affected areas are Bogo City and towns of Daanbantayan, Medellin, San Remigio, Bantayan, Sta. Fe, Madridejos, San Francisco, Poro, Pilar, Tudela, Tabuelan, Borbon, Tabogon and Sogod. (FREEMAN)
