School loses P100T to robber

CEBU, Philippines - A school in Toledo City lost about P100,000 cash to a lone robber yesterday morning.

An unidentified robber armed with a handgun entered the accounting office of the La Salle Andres Memorial College in Barangay Don Andres Soriano at around 8:15 a.m. pretending to pay his tuition.

The robber barged into the cashier’s booth and declared a holdup. Concepcion Golar Cimafranca, 49, school cashier, said she was shocked and was forced to surrender the money.

The robber escaped before the security guard could respond by going over the perimeter fence at the back of the school.

Cimafranca described the lone robber as a “big-eyed man, stout, rugged, and has a big lips.”

According to the witnesses, the robber asked to be allowed to enter the cashier’s booth because he wanted to give his promissory note.

SPO1 Thule Tahadlangit said that the robber made his way inside and outside the school through the unguarded perimeter fence at the back.

“Sa atubangan ra ang security guard nila pero sa luyo kumpiyansa ra unya kabalayan na ang luyo,” Tahadlangit said in a phone interview.

Cebu Provincial Police Office director Patrocinio Comendador said the incident could be an inside job based on the way the robber executed the crime.

“Kining mga ingon ani (payroll robbery) naay inside information kasagaran labi na nag-inusara unya wala pa gyuy sakyanan…duna  gyud ni suweto sa sulod,” Comendador said.
