CEBU, Philippines - Gubernatorial aspirant and third district Rep. Pablo John Garcia yesterday said that there is no logic to the claim made by Cordova Mayor Adelino “Ade” Sitoy that one of the reasons why he resigned from One Cebu Party is the governor’s refusal to support his projects.
Although Sitoy did not mention it in his resignation letter but he was quoted in his media interviews following his submission of his letter to Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.
Sitoy reportedly complained that the administration of Governor Garcia did not support his town’s programs, especially the unfinished Cordova Reclamation Project and the non-completion of some projects because his is only a small town.
Sitoy also reportedly complained that bigger town gets more while small towns get less from the Capitol.
But Pablo John denied the allegations saying that his sister distributed equal financial assistance for barangay halls, multi-purpose halls, day care centers, birthing centers and senior citizens to towns.
“Kung tinuod nang iyang gisulti, di ba mao na’y makiangayun nga pag-apod-apod kay mas dakung botante, more populations mas daku ang panginahanglan sa mga tawo nga mga molupyo sa lalawigan sa Sugbo (If what he was saying was true, isn’t it fair because the more population the bigger the needs it would be),” Pablo John said.
Pablo John is hoping that Sitoy would be logical in his reasoning.
“I don’t see the logic sa iyang statement, tingale wala’y logic kay naglisud na siya pag-justify sa iyang action,” Pablo John added.
Pablo John admitted that they are anticipating the possibility of other One Cebu members to follow suit in the same manner that they are also expecting some from the other party to join them.
“There’s always a possibility we are doing everything we can to consolidate One Cebu,” he said.
Another reason Sitoy cited for joining the LP is to preserve family solidarity because his son, Provincial Board Member Arleigh Jay Sitoy belongs to the party.
Arleigh’s daughter, lawyer Leighna Katrina Sitoy-Abarquez, also joined LP because of her desire to run for mayor. Sitoy would have been pitted against his granddaughter had he not resigned from One Cebu Party.
