CEBU, Philippines - Four Nacionalista Party members have been assured of seats in the LP-NP-NPC coalition in senatorial slate in the forthcoming national and local elections last year.
The NP stalwarts who will constitute the LP-NP-NPC slate includes former Las Piñas City Representative Cynthia Villar, reelectionist Senators Allan Peter Cayetano and Antonio Trillanes and Surigao del Norte Governor Ace Barbers.
In a press statement sent to The FREEMAN, Villar said that with regards to the LP and NPC senatorial candidates in the coalition, it is up to their officials to determine whom they will include in the slate.
Villar, who was in Cebu last week, also made a clarificatory statement “to put matters in their proper perspective” following statements attributed to her, which, according to her, were inadvertedly misquoted during a press conference here.
“My statement is that I only know, not that I only care, that we will be included in the LP-NP-NPC senatorial line up”, she clarified.
Villar added that NP members will work closely with the LP and NPC to promote ideals that the new coalition stands for.
In a recent dialogues, the newly-formed coalition have agreed in principles that gave birth to a new partnership that will support and advance the shared goal of improving the lives of Filipinos through good governance.
Villar, who is also the managing director the Villar Foundation, also said that local NP, NPC and LP may also join together.
Villar added that NP local candidates will not be left behind and will still be assured of support from NP.
“I do not pre-empt what will happen but the way I see it, the coalition will be the leading political party. Right now, since elections are still at a distance, I am helping those who need help with no political undertones,” Villar stated. — (FREEMAN)
