CEBU, Philippines - The 17-year old boy who he allegedly slashed his girlfriend’s neck has voluntarily surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-7 two days after the incident.
Assistant Regional Director Lauro Reyes said the minor went to their office to surrender last Sunday at 10:30 a.m. accompanied by his mother, and lawyer Rowell Juban.
The minor reportedly surrendered to the authorities for security reasons.
He executed an extra-judicial confession admitting the commission of the crime.
The suspect said that on July 20, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. he accidentally “stabbed” his girlfriend’s neck after an argument.
He claimed the incident happened inside his room in their residence at Sitio Kantibhang, Lower Pakigne, Minglanilla.
In an interview yesterday, the suspect refused to further comment on the cause of the argument between him and his girlfriend, Mariel Marie Abad, 21-year old, a resident of Kalubihan, Minglanilla.
He claimed he unintentionally stabbed his girlfriend but NBI agent lawyer Renan Oliva said it was not stabbed but slashed. He added they went to the hospital where the victim was confined.
“An argument ensued between the parties which resulted to the slashing of the victim’s neck by the subject. He then immediately fled the scene,” the facts of the case read.
Reportedly, it was the mother of the suspect who brought the victim to the hospital.
Yesterday, the NBI failed to file the frustrated homicide case against the minor before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office for lack of documents.
The NBI reportedly failed to attach the affidavit of surrender as well as the report of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Oliva said the complaint filed was only frustrated homicide because no element of frustrated murder was found. (FREEMAN)
