CEBU, Philippines - A man was killed in a vehicular accident in Balamban town while another was shot dead in Carcar City last Sunday.
In Balamban, Ronilo Sigue was killed on the spot after the motorcycle he was driving ran into a tree along the national highway in Barangay Arpili, Balamban town, early morning last Sunday.
Sigue, 42, of Sitio Maraat, Barangay Matab-ang, Toledo City, was traveling south to his house when he lost control of his motorcycle with license plate numbers 2124QR.
Sigue was reportedly zigzagging when he sideswiped the tricycle driven by Hinidino Pomelo Peñalosa, 55, of Barangay Mainggit, Toledo City, traveling from the opposite direction.
The motorcycle reportedly swerved left and hit a store along the road before it ran into a tree.
The victim sustained severe head and body injuries that caused his immediate death.
Peñalosa surrendered to the police and was detained in the Balamban police stockade. However, he was released from jail yesterday morning after both parties amicably settled the matter.

Homicide investigator PO2 Rosendo Binondo said Aldaya was arrested in a follow-up operation and was subjected to a paraffin test at the PNP Crime Laboratory-7 yesterday.
