Former policeman arrested anew

CEBU, Philippines - A policeman was arrested for failing to attend the hearing of a case filed against him by another retired policeman in Cebu City two years ago.

Jesus Sayson, a resident of Barangay Baring in Carmen, is presently detained at the Carmen police detention cell.

Sayson is facing estafa charges before the Danao City Regional Trial Court Branch 25 for failure to pay the money he borrowed from Felicano Arriola, also a retired policeman assigned in Cebu City.

Sayson borrowed money from Arriola amounting to P126,000 two years ago, for the payment of assorted jewelry for business. But despite several demands, Sayson allegedly failed to pay the said amount to Arriola.

Sayson was earlier arrested based on a warrant of arrest issued by Assisting Judge Sylva Paderanga of Danao City Regional Trial Court Branch 25.

He was released from jail after posted bail amounting to P36,000.

However, he failed to attend the scheduled hearing prompting Judge Paderanga to issued a bench warrant last June 5, 2012 which was the basis of the authorities to arrest Sayson.  (FREEMAN)
