CEBU, Philippines - The Rotary Club of Cebu West and its counterpart in Singapore donated a fire truck to the Filipino-Chinese Volunteer Fire Brigade.
The fire truck was turned over Sunday afternoon by club president Alvin Tan. It was the civic group’s third fire truck donation to the fire brigade.
“With the fire truck, it can help Cebu communities fight with the fire disasters,” Tan said.
According to Tan, they chose Cebu Filipino-Chinese Fire Brigade team as recipient of the donation because one of their members, Wilton Uy-kingtian, is a fire volunteer.
Tan said they spent P1.2 million to bring the fire truck to Cebu.
The fire truck is a second-hand 1990 model from Canada but is as dependable as brand new because it was rarely used in Canada.
During the turn-over, fire volunteers from the Filipino-Chinese Fire Brigade demonstrated what the truck is capable of.
The fire engine is capable of throwing 12,000 gallons of water per minute. (FREEMAN)
