Gwen invited as 'Kadayawan' guest

CEBU, Philippines - After getting the support of Davao City’s influential religious leader, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, and Mayor Sara Duterte, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia is asked to return to the city for the Kadayawan Festival in August.

Garcia who is eyeing the senatorial post in 2013 was in Davao City last week as guest of honor of the first Liga ng mga Barangay assembly in Region 12 at Marco Polo Plaza Hotel.

The governor paid a courtesy visit to Quiboloy and Duterte who both expressed support for her bid for senator.

Quiboloy who claimed to be the “Anointed Son of God” is the founder and leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, which reportedly has millions of followers worldwide.

Both Garcia and Quiboloy endorsed Gilberto Teodoro, the presidential bet of Lakas-Kampi-CMD, in the May 2010 elections.

Garcia said that Quiboloy based his decision on the feedback he received from his followers in Cebu, which according to him are “good feedback.”

“He is very appreciative of the good governance that we have been able to show in all my three terms as the governor of Cebu,” Garcia said.

Quiboloy is also appreciative of Garcia’s friendship, as well as what the governor is doing in Cebu.

He said that his group has pledged their support for a good friend like Garcia with a trademark of good governance and integrity of office.

Garcia shared with the barangay captains of region 12 the programs she initiated in Cebu for the barangays, including the accident insurance for barangay officials; the distribution of financial assistance for the construction of barangay halls, health centers, day care centers, the distribution of multicabs, and the barangay level competition in the Enhanced Green and Wholesome Environment that Nurtures (EGwen) Our Cebu program.
