CEBU, Philippines - A two-month-old fetus was found at the women’s restroom of the Gaisano Grand Mall in Barangay Poblacion, Minglanilla early morning yesterday.
A janitress reportedly found the fetus in a bowl in one of the cubicles when she was about to start cleaning the area.
PO2 Wendyl Arañez of the Minglanilla Police Station said they received a phone call from the security guard of the mall around 10:00 a.m. informing them about what the janitress found.
Arañez said Myrna Sanchez, supervisor of Able Services, was checking the comfort room when she found a bulk of blood.
“Gisuwayan pa gani ni’g flush pero wa gyud ma-flush medyo nabungkag gani tungod sa pressure sa tubig,” he said. The bulk of blood turned out to be a fetus.
Arañez said that prior to the discovery of the fetus, just as the mall opened that morning, a woman had asked a guard for the restroom’s location. After she was given directions, the woman reportedly left hurriedly.
Several minutes later, Sanchez found the fetus and informed the security guard about it.
The description of the woman who asked directions from the guard reportedly fit that of the woman Sanchez met at the entrance of the restroom when she was about to go in. The security guard even tried to locate the woman but to no avail.
Arañez said the fetus was turned over to Fr. Oscar Ornopia at the Minglanilla Parish Church for blessing and burial. – (FREEMAN)
